Each display\, and the works therein\, serves as a bridge between the seen and unseen\, drawing hearts toward the ultimate source of all beauty and creativity—Jesus Christ\, who deeply desires an intimate\, transforming relationship with all who seek Him. \nCurrently and throughout the Lenten season\, the Gallery features the photographic work\, Lengthening\, by Wilmore’s own Keith Barker\, Professor of Photography at Asbury University. \nBeginning on Sunday\, April 12 and running through May 18\, in conjunction with the 150th birthday of our city\, the gallery will feature many works of visual art\, in a variety of media\, by Wilmore artists past and present. \nThe gallery (in the church foyer – on the main level of Building A) is open whenever the church is open\, Sundays from 8:00a – 1:00p\, and again from 4:00p – 7:00p\, Wednesdays from 4:00p – 8:30p\, and during normal business hours – Monday through Friday\, 8:00a – 1:00p. SUMMARY:Arbor Day
DESCRIPTION:Arbor Day this year is Friday\, April 24. That week\, a number of tree-related events are scheduled in Wilmore. The aim is to continue expanding Wilmore’s lush tree canopy so our city grows healthier\, greener\, and more delightful as days and years roll by. \nVolunteers are needed to help with tree-planting\, especially April 21 through 25. Various events are planned\, some at Centennial Park and at Woodbreeze Park (the minipark by Woodspointe Way and Jessamine Station Road)\, and some on the property of Asbury Seminary and the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. Some trees will be available for planting also on residential properties. \nStudents\, adults\, and children ten years and up (if accompanied by adults) are welcome to volunteer for two or three hours (depending on the day and planting schedule). [To help as a volunteer\, or for more information\, contact Amy Fitch\, Director of Parks and Recreation (afitch@wilmore.org) or Howard Snyder\, committee chair (has@wineskins.net). \nThe vision of Trees for Wilmore is long-term\, and the focus is on a broad variety of native species\, rather than non-native or invasive trees that do damage over time. We aim to plant more than 6\,000 trees over the next six years—healthy\, beautiful\, nurturing trees that may in time grow taller than any of Wilmore’s existing buildings\, and will likely outlast most of them. Some trees can continue growing healthily and nurturing the environment for 2\,000 years and more\, and everyone benefits. \nThe next regular meeting of Trees for Wilmore will be Thursday\, May 28\, at 4:00 pm at the Municipal Center. Visitors and new committee members are welcome. SUMMARY:Railside Caboose Museum
DESCRIPTION:Visit an authentic caboose in downtown Wilmore. This former Southern Railway bay-window caboose was donated to the City of Wilmore by Norfolk Southern. It is a mini museum featuring an array of railroad memorabilia\, plus historical items from High Bridge and Wilmore. Outside  the museum there is a seating area which allows trainspotters an up-close view of the many Norfolk Southern trains passing across E. Main St. in Downtown Wilmore. The museum is open on Saturdays\, 10 a.m. to 12 noon\, from May through end of October.  It is also open during special city events and festivals\, as well as by special arrangements. \n
