It’s August, it’s hot, and it’s time for the 11th annual High Bridge Homecoming Festival at the High Bridge Park, about 5 miles outside Wilmore! Festival opens on Saturday morning and runs to Sunday evening.
Many of the familiar and favorite activities will be back: Art in the Park for Children and free pony rides, free watermelon slices from IGA, many arts & crafts vendors, direct sales vendors, model train exhibit, and festival food vendors.
Plenty of exhibits such as antique tractors, fire engines, and a police car, artists set up and painting on site. How would you like to climb one of the huge trees in the park? Well there will be a professional tree climber there to help you with the rigging and send you one! Be sure to visit an authentic camp site occupied by “Daniel & Rebecca Boone.”
Corn hole boards will be out for a friendly game or two. And of course, lots of free music on both days! New this year will be a “Rising Young Stars” event on Saturday evening featuring three local youths who are making a name for themselves in the music industry.
Fund raising activities for the sponsoring High Bridge Community Association include a dessert auction, three silent auctions and two raffles: a 47” LE Smart TV and a one-of-a-kind UK Championship queen size quilt designed and crafted by the High Bridge mother-daughter team of Flo Walker & Mildred Smith – exceptional! Visit the sales tent and check out the new souvenirs for adults and children.
