Wilmore Blood Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Low donor turnout during the holiday season has put a significant strain on the local blood supply. Blood donors, specifically of type O and A- blood, are needed this week to boost the source of lifesaving blood products for more than 70 hospitals in Kentucky.

Kentucky Blood Center’s supply of O- and O+ blood are in critical shape. KBC has less than a half day’s supply of both types. A- blood is in low supply with less than a half day’s supply ready to be shipped. Higher donor turnout over the remaining few days of 2025 is crucial to providing a healthy blood supply for local patients in need.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome.
